Mission Indradhanush campaign was launched by the Government of India on 25 December 2014. The scheme was given by the Union Ministry of Health. The main objective of this scheme is to immunize all children who have to overcome childhood diseases due to poverty.

This campaign was organized by Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda was launched on 25 December 2014 on the occasion of Good Governance Day. The birth date of the late “Freedom Fighter of India” Mr. Madan Mohan Malaviya Ji and the birthday of former Prime Minister “Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ji”.

The main objective of Mission Indradhanush is to provide complete vaccination of children up to two years of age and pregnant women so that small children can be immunized quickly. Therefore, this scheme has been started to make a complete vaccine for all children of the country.

This scheme has been started with a lot of thought so that the health system of the country remains strong so that there is no problem of any kind in the future. In the last few years, the total vaccination coverage in India has increased by only one percent annually.

Children vaccinated under the rainbow scheme:

  • BCGOPV : – 0, Hepatitis – B at birth
  • 1 month, 12 days : – RVV – 1, OPV – 1, Pentavalent – 1, flPV – 1, PCV – 1
  • 2 months, 10 days : – RVV – 2, OPV – 2, Pentavalent – 2
  • RVV – 3, OPV – 3 : – Pentavalent – 3, flPV – 2, PCV – 2 in 14 weeks
  • Measles Vitamin A First Dose at 9 months : – PCV – B
  • DPT – First Booster, OPV – First Booster, Measles Second dose, Vitamin A Second dose in 16 – 24 months
  • DPT Second Booster : – 5 – 6 years old
  • 10 and 16 years : – old TT

Vaccines to be given to pregnant women under Mission Indradhanush:

TT-1: – immediately after pregnancy
TT-2 : -28 days after TT-1
TT Booster : – if pregnancy occurs within 3 years of last pregnancy.
